Heavy-duty chain link fence are also called diamond mesh fences or cyclone fences. The chain link wire mesh is formed by twisting wire raw material together. There are also two kinds of edges: folded edge and jagged edge. The raw materials can be galvanized steel wire or PVC coated steel wire. The latter can have custom colors, and the most popular one is dark green.

The shorter heights are commonly selected for residential uses to reduce visual obstructions, while the taller heights are most often for commercial uses to provide more security. Galvanized fabric is available in mesh sizes from 3/8" to 2" and in heights from 36" to 144". Unless otherwise specified, chain link fence fabric woven with a 2" mesh and 60" or less is knuckled at both selvages. For fabrics 72" and taller, the hem is knuckled at one edge and twisted at the other. All fabrics woven into mesh sizes under 2" are knuckled at both selvages.
